The great story of Christmastide is retold in this concert
through the dancing rhythms and vivid texts of the German
seventeenth century. Composers like Schütz and Pachelbel
were among the first to take the lively musical inventions
of Italy and apply them to their native language. The result
is some of the sweetest and most delightful Christmastime
music we have—something that may be a welcome change
from the usual seasonal soundtrack.
