2007-2008 Season
Grant Llewellyn and pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout opened the season with a rousing program of Beethoven's works. The season featured acclaimed British conductor Harry Christophers leading Handel's Messiah, as well as a program of Baroque favorites. Conductor Laureate Christopher Hogwood returned to lead Mozart and Haydn, and Artistic Advisor Sir Roger Norrington finished the season with Haydn's great "Harmony" Mass.
2006-2007 Season
Sir Roger Norrington made his debut as Artistic Advisor along with Grant Llewellyn as Principal Conductor and Christopher Hogwood as Conductor Laureate. The season featured a dazzling co-production with English National Opera of Monteverdi's Orfeo directed by Chen Shi-Zheng, Handel and Haydn conducting debuts for David Stern and Laurence Cummings, and acclaimed performances of Haydn's The Seasons.
2005-2006 Season
Go Classical Baroque with extraordinary masterworks of the Baroque and Classical Periods. The season featured a stunning fully-staged production of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas with stage director Chen Shi-Zheng, as well as performances of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, our first-ever Holiday Sing at Symphony Hall, and Bach's monumental St. Matthew Passion.
2004-2005 Season
A season of glorious masterpieces... with a difference! From Mozart's Mass in C Minor to Handel's Water Music to Haydn's " London " Symphony, these concerts showcased our inspired orchestra and rousing chorus. The season concluded with Brahms' monumental A German Requiem.
2003-2004 Season
Starting with a critically acclaimed production of Monteverdi's Vespers with stage director Chen Shi-Zheng and moving onto such exquisite works as Tartini's The Devil's Trill, Handel's Dixit Dominus, and Beethoven's "Emperor" Piano Concerto.
2002-2003 Season
A season of monumental choral works, from Bach's Mass in B Minor to Beethoven's "Choral" Symphony.
2001-2002 Season
Grant Llewellyn's inaugural season as Music Director. From Haydn's The Creation to Mozart's Jupiter Symphony and the Boston premiere of Sir John Tavener's Grammy Award winning Lamentations and Praises, the season was a great success, concluding with Christopher Hogwood conducting Handel's Ariodante.
2000-2001 Season
Christopher Hogwood's final season as Artistic Director, featuring Mendelssohn's Elijah with James Morris, the modern-day premiere of a work by C.P.E. Bach, and a rousing appearance by pianist Robert Levin in Hogwood's farewell concert.
