| Learn about auditioning for these Choral Ensembles

Singers (preparatory choir, ages 8-11)
This 20+ member ensemble is a fun and engaging experience for students who may not have sung in a choir before, or are learning to read music, ages 8+. Members are offered theory classes free of charge; students sing unison and two-part songs in a variety of musical styles. Singers perform at area churches, the Cutler Majestic Theatre at Emerson College, and for the Society's Gala Benefit. Heather Tryon conducts both Singers and Youth Chorus.

Youth Chorus (ages 10-14)
Established in 1994, the Society's Youth Chorus (YC) features about fifty choristers of diverse and backgrounds from 28 communities. YC made its Symphony Hall debut in Dan Welcher's JFK: The Voice of Peace in 1999 and its Jordan Hall debut in 2002. YC has performed for Chorus America, Massachusetts ACDA Children's Choir Festival, Mary Baker Eddy Library, Ice Chips, 2004 Boston Democratic Convention, and the Leonard P. Zakim/Bunker Hill Bridge ceremonies, among others. YC has appeared at Symphony Hall in several of the Society's Holiday Sing concerts, made its New York City debut at an ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) Eastern Division Conference, and the 25th anniversary concert with Project Step. In 2008, YC performed with the Dedham Choral Society in the NE premiere of Karl Jenkin’s The Armed Man: a Mass for Peace in Jordan Hall and the 2008 WCRB Cartoon Festival at Symphony Hall. The Youth Chorus performs a variety of musical styles, including classical, folksongs, and world music in three part harmonies.

| Young Men's Chorus (ages 12-18) 
Thanks to a generous grant from the Linde Family Foundation, the Young Men's Chorus is a talented group of boys with changing to changed voices, who are ready for a vigorous and musically challenging experience. YMC sings a variety of music ranging from popular, jazz, world music and classical idioms. Begun in 2006, the YMC has sung at Symphony Hall, Tufts University, the Society’s Gala Benefit and the Cutler Majestic Theatre. Joseph Stillitano conducts the chorus.

Young Women’s Chorus (ages 15-18)
The Society's Young Women's Chorus (YWC) is a musically challenging ensemble for high school age females. YWC began under the direction of Sandra Piques Eddy in 1999, who left in 2001 to pursue her career with the Metropolitan Opera. Following an extensive search, Lisa Graham was hired in 2002 as conductor. Dr. Graham is the Evelyn Barry Director of Choral Programs at Wellesley College and was appointed Director of the Brookline Chorus in 2004. YWC features seventy members from 35 communities throughout the New England region. YWC made its Jordan Hall debut in 2004, on the "German Christmas" program with Grant Llewellyn, Music Director. This chorus has performed at the Mary Baker Eddy Library, Wellesley College, an annual gospel brunch with Channel 5's David Brown for Project Place and several Make-A-Wish Foundation events at Boston University and Northeastern University. YWC made its Symphony Hall debut on the Society's Holiday Sing program in 2006, in Berg’s Wozzeck with the New England Philharmonic in 2007, and the 2008 Harvard Women’s Choir Festival in Sanders Theatre. YWC performs primarily classical repertoire, but also enjoys folksongs, spirituals, jazz, and a cappella music in 3-4 parts.
