The acclaimed American bass, Kevin Deas, is in great demand in the United States and abroad for the beauty of his voice and the range of his repertoire. In the 2002/03 season he performed Beethoven Symphony No. 9 with Detroit , Memphis , and Florida West Coast Symphonies. He sang the Mozart Requiem with Princeton Pro Musica; Messiah with Boston Baroque and Independence Choral Society; a New Year’s Eve gala concert with the Milwaukee Symphony; and the Haydn Creation and Bach Cantatas with the Winter Park Bach Festival. Mr. Deas sang Porgy and Bess with Baltimore Symphony; Bruckner’s Mass in F with the American Symphony Orchestra at Avery Fisher Hall; and Orff's Trionfo di Afrodite with Germany’s Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. With Boston Baroque he toured Krakow and Warsaw , Poland , for performances of Messiah. Kevin Deas is internationally recognized for his portrayal of the title role in Gershwin's Porgy and Bess with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, National Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Montreal Symphony, among others. Other recent appearances include Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius with Chicago Symphony and Maestro Barenboim; Ellington’s The Sacred Concerts with Colorado Symphony; Verdi’s Requiem with Grand Rapids Symphony; Brahms’ Requiem with Vermont Symphony; and Mozart’s Requiem with Atlanta Symphony. Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Washington Chorus and Los Angeles Master Chorale; and his Choral Fantasy with Utah Symphony.
