
Tenor Jeffrey Thompson recently completed his studies in
the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.
His operatic repertoire includes Nerone in Monterverdi's
L'Incoronazione di Poppea, Oronte in Handel's Alcina, Decio
in the world premiere staging of Vivaldi's Ottone in
villa,
and the title role in Britten's Albert Herring. On the concert
stage he has appeared as soloist in Monteverdi's Vespers
della beata Vergine, Bach's Mass in B Minor, Mozart's Requiem and Haydn's The
Creation. In the summer of 1998 he was soloist
in Bach Cantatas at the Tanglewood Music Center under the
baton of Seiji Ozawa. In September 2001 he received first
place in the Concours International de Chant Baroque in Chimay,
Belqium under the jurisdiction of William Christie. Since
this time he has been engaged to sing recitals at the Handel
Halle Festival and the Printemps festival of Baroque Music
in Brussels. This November, he joins Christie and Les Arts
Florissants in a newly formed group of young singers called
Les Jardins Des Voix for a European tour performing operatic
works from the 17th- and 18th-centuries. Mr. Thompson last
appeared with the Handel and Haydn Society in Bach's B
Minor Mass in 2002.

St. Matthew Passion on April 21 and 23, 2006.
