Caroline Giassi, a native New Yorker, began her musical studies on a Cracker Jack box violin at the age of three. She soon switched to the oboe and later found her musical home in historical performance while completing a master’s degree at the Yale School of Music where she was the first and only wind player to join the Yale Baroque Ensemble. Caroline also holds degrees in comparative literature and oboe performance from the University of Michigan and a master’s in historical performance from The Juilliard School. She has performed with William Christie and Les Arts Florissants (Festival dans les Jardins de William Christie), Philharmonia Baroque, Trinity Wall Street Baroque Orchestra, The Sebastians, New York Baroque Inc., Pegasus Early Music, and 4×4 Baroque. In addition to freelancing, Caroline is an American Fellow of the English Concert and a teaching artist through S’Cool Sounds, a New York based K-5 music education program.
