The Handel and Haydn Society will return to New York for the first time since 1996 for a performance of Monteverdi Vespers at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in April 2017. Artistic Director Harry Christophers will lead the Period Instrument Orchestra and Chorus at the Temple of Denduran Egyptian  monument built between 22-10 B.C. installed in The Met’s Sackler Wing. The performance is part of the MetLiveArts 2016-2017 Season.

Soloists include tenors Jeremy Budd and Mark Dobell, who appear on the 2016 Grammy-nominated Vespers recording by Christophers and The Sixteen. They will be joined by sopranos Margot Rood and Sonja DuToit Tengblad and baritones Woodrow Bynum and David McFerrin—all longtime members of the H+H Chorus.

“[H+H’s] superb choir had a rounded, plush tone and a spontaneity with the text that infused every line with joy.” The New York Times
