Wendy Rolfe

FLUTE

In addition to her adventures with historical flutes and piccolos, Wendy Rolfe loves to explore flutes and music from cultures across the world. She has performed and taught in festivals and universities in Brazil, China, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Finland, Peru, and more. She has premiered and commissioned works featuring flutes from Africa, China, and Brazil, and often features Latin American musical styles and flutes in recital. With H&H she has appeared under the leadership of Sir Christopher Hogwood, Sir Roger Norrington, Grant Llewellyn, Harry Christophers, John Finney, and others. Wendy is a member of Boston Baroque and the Cape Symphony, and has performed with The American Classical Orchestra, on Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra's Juno-Award-winning Beethoven Symphony recordings, the New York Collegium, the Dallas Bach Society and more. She has recorded for Disney, and can be heard on Ken Burns' "Thomas Jefferson" and "Benjamin Franklin" film projects.
Wendy has been a Fulbright Senior Specialist in Ecuador and Kenya. She has toured the USA with a National Endowment for the Arts Solo Recitalist Grant.
Wendy is Professor of Flute at the Berklee College of Music. She Earned her Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music at the Manhattan School of Music, focusing on exploring Contemporary and Avant-Garde flute techniques with Harvey Sollberger. At the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, she earned her Bachelor of Music with Robert Willoughby.
