Elisabeth Marshall
SOPRANO
Elisabeth Marshall has been praised for her “admirably flexible, gilt-edged voice” of “resonance and beauty” and “radiant sheen,” particularly in the works of Bach, Handel, Haydn, and Mozart. She is also a two-time winner in The American Prize Friedrich and Victoria Schorr Award, including the Special Citation for “Outstanding Performance in Music before 1800”. Ms. Marshall has performed as soloist with numerous orchestras and organizations throughout the United States and Europe, including the Cincinnati Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Portland Symphony, and with professional choral ensembles including the Handel and Haydn Society, The Thirteen, the Carmel Bach Festival, Oregon Bach Festival, London Philharmonia Chorus, and Wexford Festival Opera, with conductors such as Helmuth Rilling, Masaaki Suzuki, and Leonard Slatkin. She holds a Doctorate in Music from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where her principal teacher was Carol Vaness, and was a Fulbright Scholar to the Hochschule für Musik & Theater in Leipzig, Germany. Ms. Marshall is Director of Vocal Studies at UChicago, teaches voice lessons and diction at Elmhurst University, and is a freelance writer for Classical Singer magazine.
