Emily Nebel enjoys a varied performing career as orchestral leader and chamber musician. She is assistant concertmaster of the Lyric Opera of Chicago and has appeared as guest concertmaster with a range of opera companies such as the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Welsh National Opera and Opera North. She has also regularly worked with symphonic orchestras, guest leading the London Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Royal Scottish National Orchestra, to name a few.
Emily maintains an interest in historical performance practice ever since her introduction to it during a semester of studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris. She has toured South America and Spain as co-leader of the period ensemble Arcangelo, performed as principal 2nd violin of the Dunedin Consort, and frequently plays with Music of the Baroque in Chicago.
She has appeared as soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra and Phoenix Symphony and most recently performed the Britten and Walton Violin Concertos with orchestras in Germany and the UK. Passionate about chamber music, Emily has been invited to numerous festivals worldwide, such as IMS Prussia Cove, Domaine Forget and Krzyzowa Music Festival, and has recorded an album of French sonatas with Jean-Sélim Abdelmoula for Linn Records.
