Melanie Williams
FLUTE
Melanie Williams is a flutist and educator who specializes in performance on historical and modern flutes. Recent appearances include seasonal performances as a member of Brooklyn Baroque, freelance work in New York City with the American Classical Orchestra, and performances around the East Coast with the Opera Company of Middlebury, Upper Valley Baroque, the Handel and Haydn Society, and the Smithsonian Academy Orchestra.
As a teacher, she is flute faculty at Musart Music in Syosset, Long Island where she helps young flutists to develop flute technique and musicality from ages 7 through 17. Her love of music extends to music theory and helping musicians of all ages, child through adult, develop a better understanding of musical concepts, terms, and analysis. She is music theory faculty in the Pre-College and Extension Divisions of The Juilliard School.
Her passion with music includes writing, directing, filming, scoring and producing independent music movies to tell stories through classical music and engage audiences outside of the concert hall. Her film projects include Palisades (2021), Aviary (2022, Official Selection of the New York Short Film Festival), Brocéliande (2023, Official Selection of NYSFF), Discorococo (2024), and L’Italiano in Vermont (2025). Melanie is a graduate of The Oberlin Conservatory of Music (BM, 2012) and The Juilliard School (MM, 2015, DMA, 2020).
