Elise Groves
SOPRANO
Elise Groves, soprano, is a dedicated and versatile soloist and chamber musician. Her repertoire ranges from Medieval chant to new compositions, with a special focus on one-per-part performances. Solo highlights include Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzer; Bach's Coffee Cantata, St. John Passion, and St. Matthew Passion; Haydn’s “Lord Nelson” Mass; Mozart's Requiem and Coronation Mass; and Scarlatti’s Stabat Mater, as well as staged versions of Schütz’ Christmas Story and Hildegard von Bingen’s Ordo Virtutum. As a professional chorister, she has appeared with The Tallis Scholars, Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Baroque, Vox Vocal Ensemble, Spire Chamber Ensemble, and True Concord Voices & Orchestra, among many others. Elise received a B.A. in Music and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies (Music Education) from Oregon State University, and an M.M. in Early Music Performance from the Longy School of Music. When she isn't singing, you can find her spending time with her husband and young son, doing various things with yarn, or continuing her lifelong search for the perfect cup of hot chocolate.
