Harry Christophers named Conductor Laureate of H+H
Just announced at the opening performance of Handel’s Messiah
For 13 years, Harry Christophers has mesmerized us with his electric energy. He has moved us to tears, cheers, and standing ovations. It’s been an incredible ride, and now we found a fitting crowning accolade for him.
H+H is pleased to announce that we have named Harry Christophers as Conductor Laureate. The title will take effect after Christophers concludes his tenure as Artistic Director, in May 2022. Christophers is in his 13th and final season as Artistic Director.
Along with the title, H+H also established the Harry Christophers Fund for Artistic Excellence and will honor Christophers at the annual H+H Gala on May 9, 2022. All proceeds from the gala celebration will benefit the Fund. The Harry Christophers Fund for Artistic Excellence will support Christophers’s farewell season and create a permanent endowment in his name to extend his legacy in perpetuity. The Fund will support conductor and soloist fees, orchestra and chorus compensation, audio and video recording and distribution, and touring.
