MOZART + MENDELSSOHN

MAR 17 + 19

Overview

The gaiety, humor, and sparkle of Mozart’s first flute concerto comes to life via the brilliance of the traverso flute, the instrument for which this work was written. H+H’s own principal flutist, Emi Ferguson, will light up the stage as soloist. It has been 155 years since H+H performed the glorious “Reformation” symphony, with its stirring “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” finale. Rising to a lofty crescendo, the chaconne by the 18th-century French composer, conductor, and opera director Pierre Berton makes for an especially regal concert opening.
