HHYC OPERA SCENE PROGRAM

The Opera Scene Program is an advanced performance opportunity for high school-aged singers in the HHYC program who are ready to take their vocal and stage skills to the next level. Designed as a bridge between traditional choral singing and theatrical vocal performance, this program immerses participants in the artistry of opera through age-appropriate scenes and professional-level training.

In a supportive and educational setting, singers will explore advanced vocal technique, dramatic interpretation, and stagecraft. Participants will develop essential skills such as breath control, character development, movement and blocking, stylistic authenticity, and commanding stage presence. They’ll also receive mentorship in how to build a strong, sustainable practice routine that supports long-term growth.

This program is intended for singers who demonstrate a solid vocal foundation, artistic commitment, and readiness for more demanding musical challenges. Through their work, participants will gain valuable experience that prepares them for advanced study and potential careers in music—while also raising the artistic bar across the HHYC program.

Tuition for this program is $200.

Auditions will be held on October 11, 2025, and audition material will be announced on September 6, 2025, the first day of the HHYC season.

The Opera Scene Program offers a transformative experience—challenging young artists to deepen their musical expression and shine on stage with confidence and skill.
