Elisabeth Marshall
SOPRANO
Soprano Elisabeth Marshall has been praised for her “sweetly focused”, “smooth and artistic” deliveries of music from the Renaissance to the 21st-century. A two-time winner in The American Prize’s Art Song and Oratorio division, including the Special Citation: “Outstanding Performance of Music before 1800”, solo concert highlights include Messiah (Handel), C minor Mass (Mozart), Mattäuspassion and other numerous works of J.S. Bach, with ensembles across the country. Recital appearances include the Brooklyn Art Song Society, Cincinnati Song Initiative, the Belvedere Series (Richmond, VA), and Gallery Concerts (Seattle). She is married to composer James Kallembach and has collaborated with many composers including Libby Larsen and the late Richard Hundley. Ms. Marshall performs with Handel and Haydn Society, The Thirteen, Grant Park Music Festival, Emmanuel Music (Boston), and previously with the Carmel Bach Festival, Oregon Bach Festival, Lorelei Ensemble, and the London Philharmonia Chorus. She has been hailed for opera roles including the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Frasquita (Carmen), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Elisetta (Il matrimonio segreto), and Rosabella (The Most Happy Fella). A Fulbright grant recipient to the Hochschule für Musik & Theater “Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy” in Leipzig, Germany, Ms. Marshall holds a Doctorate in Music from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and currently serves as Assistant Professor of Music (Voice, Choral) at the Western Illinois University School of Music.
