A Message from H+H about COVID-19

The Handel and Haydn Society has been monitoring the evolving response and guidance from Federal, state, and municipal officials regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Given the March 10 declaration of a state of emergency in Massachusetts, we want to update you on H+H’s current performance plans.

As of today, there are no prohibitions on public gatherings, and our venue Symphony Hall remains open. We are continuing preparations for our upcoming April and May concerts, as well as our May Gala. The H+H Youth Choruses continue with rehearsals and concerts.

Should conditions in Boston change, requiring us to alter our plans, we will immediately notify you by email, social media, and the H+H website.

While our performances and education programs are important to the fulfillment of our mission, nothing is more important to us than the health and well-being of our audiences, supporters, musicians, students, and staff. For our remaining performances at Boston Symphony Hall this season, the following precautions will be in place:

  • Hand sanitizers and sanitizing wipes will be located throughout the concert hall.
  • Symphony Hall management will frequently sanitize and disinfect surfaces throughout the hall.
  • Ushers and staff will wear gloves.
  • We encourage anyone who might feel unwell to refrain from attending, and we’ll make appropriate accommodations for anyone unable to attend due to illness. In consideration of this unique situation, we will extend our exchange policy into future performances through the 2020-21 season for anyone who is unwell, or if you prefer to donate your tickets, we will send a tax receipt letter.

All of us at H+H wish you good health, and we look forward to performing our music for you. Please feel free to email or call us with any questions.

Thank you very much for your support of the Handel and Haydn Society.

With best wishes,

David Snead
