Erica Brookhyser

Mezzo-soprano Erica Brookhyser has established herself in both the lyric and dramatic operatic repertories. Celebrated for her compelling interpretations of Carmen, Didon, Orfeo, Cherubino, Brangäne, Suzuki, and Preziosilla.

Brookhyser gained international attention as the winner of ARTE-TV’s Open Opera: Who will become Carmen?, leading to a live televised performance from Berlin. Additional honors include semifinalist in the Operalia Competition, 1st Place in the Northwest Region Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and a Sullivan Foundation Career Grant.

A graduate of New England Conservatory, she made her professional debut with Boston Lyric Opera as Myrtale in Thaïs while still a student. And later trained at the young artist programs of Los Angles Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and Tanglewood.
