

Thomas Cannon

Thomas Cannon has attracted attention for his strong and striking stage presence, polished and powerful vocalism, and sensitive artistic expression. He has performed many important operatic roles such as Amonasro (Aida), Germont (La Traviata), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Scarpia (Tosca) and Porgy (Porgy & Bess), at highly regarded companies and performing arts institutions throughout the United States. As a concert soloist, Mr. Cannon has performed a host of masterworks including Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Mendelssohn's Elijah and Handel’s Messiah. He sang Haydn’s Harmonie Messe at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna and Mozart’s Requiem at the Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt, Austria, and at Carnegie Hall he has been heard in Verdi’s Requiem and Delius’ Mass of Life with The American Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Cannon is a graduate of Baylor University, The Juilliard School, and has earned a Doctor of Musical Arts from Oklahoma University. Garnered awards include those from The Dallas Opera Guild, Chautauqua Opera, The Anna Sosenko Foundation, West Palm Beach Opera, Opera Birmingham, and The Metropolitan Opera National Council. He currently serves as Assistant Professor of Voice at Boston University.
