Overview
Experience the wild abandon of Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony—“the apotheosis of the dance itself,” Wagner called it. It fairly whirls with exuberance and energy when H+H musicians perform it with more than 200 years of cobwebs swept off the score. Our curtain-raiser is the overture to the ballet about Prometheus, the Titan who stole fire from the gods. In between, Václav Luks, artistic director of Prague’s Collegium 1704, leads the Orchestra in the H+H premiere of Voříšek’s Symphony in D Major; you wouldn’t be wrong if you heard an echo of Beethoven, who was a contemporary of the composer.
